Vibe coding FAQ

What is vibe coding?

Vibe coding is building software by describing what you want in plain language and letting an AI coding agent write, run and fix the code. The term was coined by Andrej Karpathy in February 2025. You steer, review and test; the AI does most of the typing.

Do I need to know how to code to vibe code?

No, you can build working prototypes with zero experience using app builders like Lovable or Bolt. But a little knowledge of Git, how web apps are structured and basic security goes a long way once you want to ship something real to users.

What is the best AI coding tool in 2026?

It depends on how you work. Claude Code and OpenAI Codex lead for agentic, terminal-first work; Cursor is the most popular AI IDE; GitHub Copilot is the easiest add-on for existing editors; and Lovable, Bolt, v0 and Replit suit non-coders who want a hosted app builder.

Is AI-generated code safe to put in production?

Only after review. AI agents regularly produce code with missing authorization checks, exposed secrets and outdated dependencies. Run through a security checklist, add tests, and never deploy code you have not at least read and run.
